Verena Kronbichler

Mezzo-soprano Verena Kronbichler was born in Bruneck, South Tyrol. She studied voice and vocal pedagogy with Prof. Karlheinz Hanser and KS Prof. Krassimira Stoyanova at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, as well as concert singing with KS Prof. Christiane Iven and Lied performance with Prof. Christian Gerhaher at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich.

For the 2022/23 and 2023/24 seasons, she was a member of the opera studio at Deutsche Oper am Rhein Düsseldorf/Duisburg. There, she performed roles such as Zulma (L’Italiana in Algeri), Flosshilde (Rheingold), Barena (Jenůfa), Annina (La Traviata), Sandmännchen (Hänsel und Gretel), Alisa (Lucia di Lammermoor), Laudine’s Heart (M. Eggert – “Iwein Löwenritter”), Second Squire (Parsifal), Kate Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly), and A Young Babylonian (J. Massenet – “Hérodiade”).

Her repertoire also includes Second Lady (The Magic Flute), Dorabella (Così fan tutte), Hänsel (Hänsel und Gretel), and Rosina (Il barbiere di Siviglia).

Verena Kronbichler is also active in concert and as a Lied singer, having performed at venues such as the Wiener Konzerthaus, Kölner Philharmonie, Düsseldorfer Tonhalle, Herkulessaal in Munich, and at the Liedforum Köln.

She was a finalist in the 2024 International Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition in Jurmala and the 2020 International Osaka Music Competition in Japan.

Verena Kronbichler is a graduate of the Georg Solti Accademia for Bel Canto, where she received important artistic guidance from figures such as Leo Nucci and Richard Bonynge. In addition, numerous masterclasses with artists such as Edith Wiens, Linda Watson, Konrad Junghänel, Barbara Frittoli, and Francois Le Roux have rounded out her musical training.
