Sandra Laagus
Sandra Laagus began her musical journey at age six, studying violin before eventually switching to singing. She later went on to study at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre under the tutelage of Juhan Tralla, where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in classical singing in 2021.
As a soloist, Ms. Laagus has performed with prominent ensembles, including the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra, Tallinn Chamber Orchestra, Vanemuine Symphony Orchestra, and the baroque ensemble of the Drottningholm Palace Theatre. She has participated in masterclasses with Ain Anger, David Stern, Gregory Lamar, Elena Pankratova, and Hedwig Fassbender.
Her operatic roles include Giulio Cesare in Händel’s Giulio Cesare and Donna Elvira in Mozart’s Don Giovanni, both with Theatre Vanemuine (State Opera Tartu). Other notable performances include Papagena in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte, Piret in Tõnis Kaumann’s The Mall, Roxanne’s duenna in Eino Tamberg’s Cyrano de Bergerac, Dienerinnen/Kinderstimme in Strauss’s Die Frau ohne Schatten, and Kammerzofe in Janáček’s Die Sache Makropulos at the Berlin State Opera.
Since 2024, Ms. Laagus is a member of the Berlin State Opera’s International Opera Studio.
