Maximilian Mayer

Born in Regensburg, Germany, tenor Maximilian Mayer completed his vocal studies cum laude under Peter Edelmann at the University of Music and Performing Arts, Vienna.

Since 2023, he has pursued a freelance career, making his Wagner debut as Froh at the Staatstheater Kassel in April 2023. In the 2024/25 season, he is set to debut as Cervantes in Johann Strauss’s operetta Das Spitzentuch der Königin at the Theater an der Wien.

During the 2023/24 season, Mayer performed as Camille de Rosillon in The Merry Widow at the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing. He reprised the role in December at the Oper Köln and is scheduled to perform it again in May 2024 at the Vereinigten Bühnen Bozen.

From 2016 to 2023, Mayer was a soloist with the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz, where he performed leading roles such as the title role in Candide, Eisenstein in Die Fledermaus, Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni, Ferrando in Così fan tutte, and Tamino in Die Zauberflöte, among others. He has also appeared as Tamino at the Oper Leipzig, Staatstheater Wiesbaden, Theater Dortmund, and Staatstheater Kassel.

In 2025, Mayer will make his French debut, performing Tamino at the Opéra de Rennes and Angers Nantes Opéra.

Further engagements have taken him to such opera houses as the Semperoper Dresden, Theater Kiel, Theater Heidelberg, Theater Koblenz, Lehár Festival Bad Ischl, Operklosterneuburg, and Seefestspiele Mörbisch.
