Jessey-Joy Spronk
After graduating from the 'Rotterdams Conservatorium' (Codarts), Jessey-Joy Spronk continued her studies both in the Netherlands and Germany with various private teachers.
In 2016, Jessey-Joy made her operatic debut as Violetta Valery from Verdi’s La Traviata in Castelfiorentino with the O.M.E.G.A. Musica, after winning the role in their international competition.
Soon after, she won the German International Opera Competition of Opera Classica Europa, then the Concorso Evan Gorga (IT), followed by Sicily’s 5th Concorso Lirico Internazionale Simone Alaimo di Bel Canto.
These prizes resulted in numerous engagements for Jessey-Joy in the role of Violetta Valery, as well as concert-setting performances.
She also appeared on stage as Micaëla in Bizet's Carmen and the soprano soloist of the Verdi Requiem in Germany.
Summer 2019 Jessey had the unique opportunity to take part in Dolora Zajick's Young Artist Program 'Institute for Young Dramatic Voices' in Nevada, USA. There she worked with world renowned singers and coaches like Luana DeVol, Dolora Zajick and John Parr.
In 2021 Jessey made her house-debut as Helmwige in the Wagner/Loriot Ring at Oper Leipzig where she got invited instantly to sing the full role in their productions of Die Walküre in 2022.
In the summer of 2022 Jessey also made her debut in Holland as Violetta Valery with Festival Classique in The Hague
Other upcoming projects include Violetta Valery with Opera Compact's production of La Traviata, Micaëla in Carmen with Opera Classica Europa and Hanna Glawari in Die Lustige Witwe with Opera Classica Europa.
After her performances as Violetta Valery in Germany, Jessey-Joy was hailed as a “great artist and an outstanding Violetta” (Mannheimer Morgen, DE).
Critics have claimed that after her impressive performances “the audience was difficult to calm down” (Op-Online, DE). Newspaper Die Rheinpfalz (DE) called Jessey-Joy the “star of the evening…with an equally beautiful and powerful voice which sounded strong and pleasant, even in the high notes.”
Italian critics from the newspaper la Sicilia, IT, praised her 'crystal clear voice and (...) dramatic bravura which moved the entire audience'.
