Jennifer Zein

German-American soprano Jennifer Zein has appeared as a soloist with the Stuttgart Philharmonic under Stefan Blunier, the Beethoven Orchester Bonn, the Cairo Symphony Orchestra, and the Johann-Strauß Orchestra Frankfurt. She has performed in major international venues, including the Musikverein Vienna, the Mozarteum Salzburg, the Shanghai Symphony Concert Hall, and the Prinzregententheater Munich. Festival appearances include the Immling Festival and the Hawaii Performing Arts Festival.
In the 2023/24 season, Ms. Zein made her role and house debut as Anne Trulove (The Rake’s Progress) at Theater Plauen Zwickau and as Mary (Der Ferne Klang) at the Theater Osnabrück. In the previous season, she appeared at Oper Köln as Clorinda (La Cenerentola) and at the Deutsches Nationaltheater Weimar as Frasquita (Carmen). In summer 2019, she made her debut as Adele (Die Fledermaus) at the Immling Festival, where she returned in 2021 as Clorinda. Other engagements include multiple seasons with Oper im Berg Festspiele Salzburg, where she sang both Königin der Nacht and Papagena in Die Zauberflöte.
Ms. Zein was a frequent guest at the Oper Leipzig from 2018 to 2022. During her tenure, she performed a variety of roles including Gretel (Hänsel und Gretel), Esmeralda (The Bartered Bride), Frasquita (Carmen), Papagena (Die Zauberflöte), and Zwerg Klecks (Schneewittchen). She was also selected for the prestigious Young Singers Project at the Salzburg Festival, where she appeared under the baton of Ivor Bolton.
Ms. Zein received her early musical training at the Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan, USA. She has participated in masterclasses with Brigitte Fassbaender, Renato Bruson, Grace Bumbry, and Maestro Vladimir Jurowski.
Her accolades include the Mozart Prize at the Grandi Voci competition in Salzburg (2014) and a Special Prize from the Staatsoper Hamburg at the Nuovo Canto Opera competition in Milan (2018).
