Clemens Fieguth

Clemens Fieguth’s began his conducting career in March 2022 with his debut conducting the Staatskapelle Weimar, where he stepped in on short notice to lead a performance of Detlev Glanert’s Caligula (directed by Andreas Wolf). Shortly after, he was appointed Second Kapellmeister at Theater Erfurt for the 2022/23 season, where he again drew attention with a last-minute performance of Richard Strauss’s Elektra.
In the 2023/24 season, Mr. Fieguth was named First Kapellmeister, opening the season with Benjamin Britten’s Peter Grimes. His repertoire has since included the award-winning production of Titanic (directed by Stephan Witzlinger), along with Rusalka, Anatevka, Tosca, Hänsel und Gretel (revival), and Dornröschen (Sleeping Beauty). Beyond his opera work, Mr. Fieguth conducts various symphonic, festival, and special concert formats, including popular explanatory concerts that he moderates himself.
In his early years, Mr. Fieguth trained with such influential conductors as Gert Albrecht, Semyon Bychkov, François-Xavier Roth, Lorenzo Viotti, and Johannes Klumpp. He later assisted Klumpp with various orchestras and received his initial conducting instruction from him. He has also worked as an assistant to conductors including Joseph Bastian, Nicolás Pasquet, Dominik Beykirch, Hermann Bäumer, and Simon Gaudenz.
During his studies in the renowned conducting program at the Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt in Weimar, under Professors Nicolás Pasquet and Ekhart Wycik, Mr. Fieguth gained valuable conducting experience with ensembles such as the Jena Philharmonic, the Thuringian Philharmonic Gotha-Eisenach, the Karlovy Vary Symphony Orchestra, the Staatskapelle Weimar, and the Anhalt Philharmonic Dessau.
Mr. Fieguth is also a dedicated educator, serving as a lecturer, assistant, and artistic director for several youth orchestras, including four state youth orchestras. His work with young musicians reflects both his passion for music and his commitment to passing on his knowledge to the next generation.
