The Armenian soprano Astghik Khanamiryan (also Astrik Khanamiryan) received her formal training at the State Conservatory in Yerevan, where she graduated in 2007 with a diploma in opera performance. She went on to complete additional studies at the Opera Studio in Yerevan and later joined the opera class at the Conservatory in Vienna, finishing in 2010. Early roles during her training included Lisa (Pique Dame), Tatiana (Eugene Onegin), Zemfira (Aleko), Michaela (Carmen), Violetta (La Traviata), and the Mother in Hänsel und Gretel.

Ms. Khanamiryan is currently engaged at the Aalto Theater Essen, where her repertoire for the 2024/2025 season includes Leonora (La forza del destino), Tosca, Aida, and Abigaille (Nabucco). In the 2023/2024 season, she appeared in Essen as Amelia (Un ballo in maschera), Aida, Tosca, and Lady Macbeth (Macbeth), with additional performances as Lady Macbeth at Graz Opera and Landestheater Coburg. Other recent engagements include Turandot at the Armenian National Opera (2023), Finnish National Opera (2023), Cologne Opera (2022), and Opera Banská Bystrica (2022), as well as Abigaille at the Oper im Steinbruch St. Margarethen (2022). In previous seasons, she performed Anna Bianca in Gino Marinuzzi’s Palla de’ Mozzi at Teatro Lirico di Cagliari (2020), Giovanna (Giovanna d’Arco) at TOBS in Switzerland (2019–2020), and Turandot at Teatro Massimo in Palermo (2019).

Earlier roles include Nedda (Pagliacci) and Santuzza (Cavalleria Rusticana) at the Oper im Berg Festival in Salzburg (2017), Mimi (La Bohème) in productions in Schloss Braunfels and Schloss Amerang (2016–2017), and Antonia (Les Contes d’Hoffmann) at the Opernakademie Bad Orb (2015). Ms. Khanamiryan has also been a frequent guest at Austrian theaters such as the Romantik Theater, where she performed in multiple operetta productions between 2014 and 2018. She began her professional career with concerts and early stage work in Austria, including performances with the Wiener Mozart Orchestra at Palais Palffy and appearances with the Prayner Konservatorium Orchestra.

Ms. Khanamiryan has received recognition at several international competitions. In 2016, she was awarded first prize at the Grandi Voci competition in Salzburg. In 2018, she received first prize and a special debut prize at the Marcello Giordani Competition in Noto, first prize at the “Voci dal mondo” competition in Turin (under jury president Renata Scotto), and a diploma with special prize from the State Opera Banská Bystrica. That same year, she received the International Arca D’Oro award for young talents in Turin.
